Dear Families, August 17th, 2017 Welcome to Fourth Grade at Brown International Academy. I am Diane Santorico and I am so pleased to be your child’s teacher. This year your child will be in room 203 (the old Art Room).
This is my 6th year at Brown and I have truly loved my work here. In my 25 years of teaching I have never worked with a more dedicated faculty, staff and administration. If that wasn’t enough, I love the amazing families and students that make up this community. I've come to know many of you well and look forward to meeting the rest of you.
My philosophy of education is simple. Students succeed in a caring, structured, high expectation environment. One that focuses on the individual student needs and abilities. I believe in educating the whole child as an individual within a pluralistic, respectful and supportive classroom community. If you are new to the International Baccalaureate Program, welcome. I encourage to read up on our philosophy and curriculum at IBO.ORG.
Family involvement and communication is a high priority for me. I have included my contact information and highly encourage you to sign up for Bloomz To receive all of my communications. Go to Bloomz.net and sign up for an account. Use the codeMUMFJ2. Please know most of my communication will be coming through there. Let me know if you have trouble getting signed on.
We will meet onBack-to-School night Tuesday, August 29th from 6-7:05. There will be 3, 20 minute rotations. Here I will share important information on what to expect in 4th grade. Meanwhile, please look at our website to find classroom policies and procedures. http://mssantorico4thgrade.weebly.com/.
The first day of school is August 21st. Students must be in line at the 8:55 bell. I will have a name sign when I meet students outside on the playground.
If you are picking up your student, they will be waiting with me on the playground at the North Side door # 10 to the building. I “check out” each student with a high-five when we see you on the playground.
